Mark mentions how he used a Photo for reference and that is very important to note that even Mark Crilley uses photo reference to guide him in drawing. so don’t be afraid to use google image to search to find photos so you have a real life reference to help you along and remember don’t right out copy just use it to give you an ideal on the details.

Great Artist all study photos or real life subject for their work not just in things like hair but in posses to this is a common practice and is something you should embrace to give your art work the feel of 3d and realism that it should have.
